Beyond Borders: Lockdown Learners is a series of three days long sessions in collaboration with Canopy Nepal and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The phrase “youth is the future”, no matter how cliche is very much true. It is essential for young learners today to be aware of global, national and current affairs.
The first session of Beyond Borders: Lockdown Learners aimed to enhance students’ knowledge on human trafficking. Together, 20 learners from Kaasthamandap Vidhyalaya and Rupy’s International School broke down various phenomena in this social issue and warped up the session with a Socratic Seminar. This really pushed students to sharpen their critical thinking, empathetic understanding, teamwork, healthy competition, speaking skills as well as confidence.
“This session has been a great experience for me where I could express my opinions and learn about human trafficking in the ways which I have not learned before. As an introvert, this session really allowed me to push myself and speak in front of a crowd. Thank you Canopy Nepal for this opportunity and hoping for more sessions to come in the future,” said one of the students from Kaasthamandap Vidhyalaya. Working with young learners has always been encouraging to the team and this session gave us another boost of inspiration to continue working hard.
